Kenya Extends Gulf Oil Supply Deals

In early April, Kenya renewed its fuel supply contracts with Saudi Aramco, Emirates National Oil, and Abu Dhabi National Oil — complete with favorable credit terms. For consumers, this means steadier supply and fewer price shocks at the pump. For logistics operators, it translates into predictability: fewer fuel-related surprises when managing fleet costs.
It’s easy to overlook fuel deals as “just energy policy,” but in logistics, every shilling saved per litre echoes across supply chains, from long-haul transport to last-mile deliveries.
The Lamu Corridor Stalls Amid Security Fears

The much-touted LAPSSET corridor, designed to link Kenya with Ethiopia and South Sudan, remains stuck in neutral. Despite the billions already invested, security concerns — largely due to al-Shabaab activity — have slowed progress. Only three of 23 berths at Lamu Port are complete, and shipping traffic has been modest.
It’s a sobering reminder that logistics isn’t only about cranes and trucks. A port without security is like a warehouse without a lock — investments risk standing idle if confidence isn’t restored.
Africa Logistics Expo Set to Debut in Nairobi

To end the month on a brighter note, Nairobi announced it will host the first-ever Africa Logistics Expo in July. Co-located with the AFMASS Food Manufacturing Expo, the event promises to pull in over 8,000 visitors. Expect tech demos, sustainability showcases, and plenty of networking over strong Kenyan coffee.
For local firms, it’s a golden opportunity to rub shoulders with global innovators — and to put East Africa’s logistics ecosystem on the map.
